Janelle Takyi-Micah is a registered psychology associate conducting psychological assessments and therapy at The Capital Center for Psychotherapy and Wellness. With a Masters of Arts in clinical psychology from the Chicago School in Washington D.C., Janelle's expertise shines through her role as a testing coordinator, where she embraces a strengths-based model, ensuring every client feels seen and heard.
Specializing in diagnosing ADHD, autism, bipolar disorders, childhood developmental disorders, personality disorders, anxiety, and mood disorders, Janelle goes beyond a label. She believes in empowering her clients with tools to navigate life's challenges, fostering a deeper self-awareness and confidence. Stepping out of her testing space, clients emerge with a clearer understanding of themselves.
Janelle's passion lies at the intersection of neurodiversity (Autism/ADHD) and gender diversity, where she has amassed invaluable experience. Beyond testing, she offers individual and family therapy, catering to children, adolescents, and young adults from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQ+.
My Philosophy
Whether employing trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), drawing from psychodynamic principles, or utilizing system-based modalities, Janelle approaches each client's journey as a flexible, client-let, collaborative effort. Her doctoral thesis focuses on sexual wellness and communication dynamics in immigrant homes. Janelle works to empower her clients to be their happiest, healthiest, most genuine selves.
